Did Yinz See This? Pittsburgh: The Movie

A Mt Lebanon man compiled clips from 29 films shot in Pittsburgh and turned them into a music video.

From "Silence of the Lambs" to "Dark Knight Rises" to "Jack Reacher," Pittsburgh has been the backdrop to more than two dozen Hollywood films. Mt. Lebanon native Aron Zelkonwicz, who grew up watching many of those films, decided to take it one step further by gathering iconic Pittsburgh scenes from 29 films shot in Pittsburgh and compiling them into a music video. “I thought it would be fun,” he told KDKA'S John Shumway. “I had seen all these movies filmed in Pittsburgh and thought why not take the parts everyone wants to see, the shots of Pittsburgh, and put those together.” His labor of love took weeks, in between rehearsals and performances with the Pittsburgh Symphony where he plays the cello. A 21-and-over party begins at 4:30 p.m., with Star Wars movies starting at 7:15 p.m.

Fans of Star Wars and Cinco De Mayo will be able to enjoy movies, food, fun and more at the Community Reel Art Center’s first-ever Cinco De Mayo/May The Fourth Be With You Fundraiser Event on Saturday, May 4, beginning at 4:30 p.m. Community Reel Arts Center, a nonprofit organization, invites the public to don their sombreros and bring their Light Sabers and join them in raising funds for renovations to the old Parkway Theater on Broadway Avenue in nearby Stowe Township. West Allegheny Singer Wins Audience Votes at Kean Quest Talent Search

Shane Treloar received the most votes from the audience of all acts that performed during the finals.

West Allegheny singer Shane Treloar won big at the Kean Quest Talent Search. The 12-year-old from North Fayette Township received the Judges’ Choice and Audience Choice awards at the 10th annual talent showcase held on April 5. As a result, he landed a recording package with Grammy-award winning studio Audible Images. Shane performed “One Moment in Time” recorded by Whitney Houston and received the most votes from the audience of all acts that performed during the finals. Also awarded the judges' and audience choice was Ashlyn Beatrice, a New Brighton third-grader who performed “I Won’t Grow Up” from Disney’s “Peter Pan,” and received the top combined score of the four judges from all 25 contestants performing during the Youth Finals. 'Iron Chef' Winner to Cook at Settlers Ridge

Chef and Food Network personality Alexandra Guarnashchelli will take part in a cooking demonstration in Robinson Township. Tickets are now available.

Chef Alexandra Guarnashchelli will make a guest appearance the Robinson Township Market District Giant Eagle.  Guarnashchelli is the season five winner of the popular cooking competition show The Next Iron Chef. She also serves as a judge on the Food Network series Chopped and has appeared on Good Morning America and the CBS Morning Show.  She now serves as the executive chef of eateries The Darby and Butter, located in New York City.  Guarnaschelli will appear at 11 a.m. May 18 at the Robinson Township Market District location for a cooking demonstration. Montour's 'Legally Blonde' Opens Thursday

Tickets are available now for the Montour High School spring musical.

  Montour High School's spring musical production Legally Blonde will open Thursday, featuring student Bailey Marasti in the lead role as Elle Woods.  The production, based on the movie of the same name, earned seven Tony Award nominations in its first year as a Broadway production.  The family friendly show is appropriate for children ages 12 and older. The show will run at 7:30 p.m. April 11 to April 13 and from April 18 to April 20. Matinee performances will be held at 2 p.m. on April 14 and April 20. All performances will take place at Montour High School's auditorium.  Tickets information is available on the Montour Musical website and through the ticket hotline at 412.225.2815.

10-Year-Old Montour Piano Prodigy Performs

Montour elementary student Katie Liu took the piano in March for a performance before the Montour School Board.

Burkett Elementary fourth-grader Katie Liu won first prize in the Duquesne Young Artist National Competition for musicians aged 10 to 12.  Katie, a gifted education student who began playing piano at age 4, performed before members of Montour's administration and school board during the board's March 8 meeting.  The Montour student studies with pianist Natasha Snitkovsky at the City Music Center.  View more videos on the Montour School District's YouTube channel.   

Findlay Teen Competes as Kean Quest Finalist

Kiersten Kelly was among the 27 performers chosen to advance to the finals.

A Findlay Township teen has advanced to the finals of the 2013 Kean Quest Talent Search. Keirsten Kelly, a junior at Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School, was among the 27 performers chosen to move onto the finals Friday night at the Kean Theatre in Richland Township.  During the second semi-final round, Kiersten of Findlay received the Audience Choice Award. She sang “One and Only” by Adele, but has even more to brag about. She generated much attention last month when her video performing “The Cup Song” from the movie “Pitch Perfect” went viral on YouTube. Not only is she singing in the video, she is also drumming a beat by clapping and hitting a cup on a table in a performance, which many have found inspiration due to the fact …

Moon Area Hosts PMEA Choral Concert

The concert takes place at 2:30 p.m. today at Moon Area High School.

The top student vocalists from across the region will take part in today's Pennsylvania Music Educator Association's all-state choral festival.  "It's really the cream of the crop performing," said Moon choral teacher Lori Cole. "It's some of the most talented students in the region."  More than 500 students from Western Pennsylvania auditioned to take part in the choral festival—170 students made the final cut.  Cole said 10 Moon Area High School students were selected to sing in the event. Another 16 have been added to the choral ranks because Moon is the host school, Cole said. The event takes place at 2:30 p.m. today at the Moon Area High School auditorium.
