Update: Township Planning Director Adam McGurk said that Autozone has submitted a revised application to develop on the property.
Vacant buildings and unused storefronts are eyesores, but an empty storefront can also be an opportunity. You don't need to be a commercial developer or city planner—or have money to invest in a business project—to have the next great idea.
The former Trivia Pub and Beer Store on University Boulevard were once Moon Township staples—the watering hole across from Robert Morris University's campus served as a bar for more than 60 years.
The property was tapped to become an Autozone location.
In January, Akron, OH company LRC AZ Investors purchased the land and accompanying building for $619,750. Since that sale, the site has remained vacant.
Now we want to know: What business would benefit the Moon-area community? How could this space better serve you and your neighbors? If you had your pick, what business would move into this University Boulevard property?

With the University right across the street, why not make it into a nice sports bar or a pub that servers good food. You have great location and lots of client potential. Keep it nice so it does not turn into a college dive. Yet another building that sits empty in Moon Township. When is the Township going to start marketing these properties or finding someone to develop them?? University and Beaver Grade/Broadhead are looking like an eyesore.

Moon Twp has a well deserved reputation as un-friendly to businesses and developers. Until the Supervisors work to reverse their anti-commercial development attitude, new businesses will continue to open in North Fayette, Findlay, and Robinson, and our commercial areas will continue to sit vacant.

The Dr is right They are not friendly to new places amd developments. It is sad. Walmart would help that eye sore of a dump site where west hills is.

I'm hoping Autozone doesn't go through with this. There are so few places in Moon Township for RMU students to hang out. There are no college bars, no restaurants that cater to students. People literally walk from campus to the freaking Ground Round to drink. It's kind of pathetic. Let's have something where students can go to enjoy themselves.

Now that I think of it, our township lost it's only hardware store that had been a Moon resident since way back in the 50's. Why not give us another store instead of having to run down to downtown Coraopolis? Just another thought for our township. It would also put a few people to work each day.

Well, if Autozone's revised application doesn't pan out, I would suggest RMU purchase the building. It already has a kind of Colonial theme to it. RMU could use the building to form a "bridge" between the school and the community.
