Visions for Vacancy: The former Niko's Coffee, Cream & Bean.

Vacant buildings and unused storefronts are eyesores, but an empty storefront can also be an opportunity. You don't need to be a commercial developer or city planner—or have money to invest in a business project—to have the next great idea.

This former ice cream and coffee shop at 5890 Steubenville Pike closed its doors as a Niko's Coffee, Cream & Bean in October 2012; Niko's management announced on Patch that the company looked to focus on its other locations. Niko's still serves up coffee and pastries at its shop at 6504 Steubenville Pike.

The storefront, owned by Five D Development, has a history as an ice cream shop—Bruster's and the locally owned Stacy Jo's Ice Cream each called the facility home.

Now we want to know: What business would benefit the Robinson-area community? How could this space better serve you and your neighbors? If you had your pick, what business would move into this University Boulevard property?

Share your thoughts, ideas and concerns in the comments. Tell us what your vision is for this Robinson Township vacancy.

My Question Is Did It Do Really Well When It Was An Ice Cream Place? With The Way Its Set Up It Would Probably Benefit More As An Ice Cream Parlor With Very Little Renovations..

The building will be leveled to make way for the small strip center that is being constructed adjacent to it.

Great, just what need more of in Robinson, strip malls with crappy stores and more traffic. I'm sure it will be some chain franchise, because we never get anything original or higher end. We have an awful mall with trashy stores and roaches, and settlers ridge could have been so great but instead it is just some junk stores and a mattress store?!
