For-profit college University of Phoenix will shutter more than 100 of its satellite locations across the country, including one on Penn Center Boulevard in Robinson.
The Apollo Group, the institution's parent company, said its fourth-quarter earnings dropped a staggering 60 percent, prompting the widespread closures, reports the Huffington Post.
More than 300,000 people from across the country are enrolled in University of Phoenix courses, many of them non-traditional, part-time students. Approximately 13,000 will be impacted by the closures, according to reports.
The Pittsburgh Business Times reports that the University of Phoenix's Robinson learning center won't close immediately—the center's course offerings will be phased out as each of its 100 students finish their degree or switch to online learning.
No new students will be accepted at the Robinson campus, though online coursework will still be offered, according to the University of Phoenix website.
