Teen Suffers Severe Injuries after Apparent Hit-and-Run on Moon Clinton Road
Moon Police investigate a reported hit-and-run crash in which a 17-year-old female pedestrian is injured.
The Moon Township Police Department reported that it received a 911 call at 9:35 p.m. in which the caller said a driver struck a female pedestrian and then fled.
Officers found the 17-year-old victim lying on the side of the road in the 200 block of Moon Clinton Road, in front of the Casa Blanco apartment complex near University Boulevard. She was treated at the scene before being flown to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, according to a police report. Her condition is unknown.
Officers said they believe that the vehicle that struck the girl may have been a full- or mid-sized pick-up truck. The truck's passenger-side headlight was either burned out or broken and the vehicle possibly had a brush guard on its front end.
Police did not release the girl's name.
A woman who lives nearby said that she heard a loud noise from her home last night and wondered what it was.
"It was a loud crashing sound. I didn't know it was a person that got hit," said the woman, who did not want to be identified.
She also said that she saw a dark-colored truck or sport-utility vehicle when she looked out her window.
"The car didn't even stop," she said.
