Suspect Flees After Uni-Mart Robbery

The incident marks the third armed robbery at the Coraopolis Heights store in the past six months.

A man in his 20s with his shirt pulled over his face and his hand in his pocket, perhaps holding a weapon, robbed Uni-Mart late Wednesday night, marking the second robbery of the convenience store this week.

Moon Police said an investigation into the incident is ongoing. A Uni-Mart employee earlier today confirmed that the store was again robbed, but declined to comment further.

Police said a tall, white male in his 20s wearing a silver T-shirt and white winter hat walked into the Coraopolis Heights Road store at 10:10 p.m. and demanded money from the store's clerk.

The employee said the man, who held his hand in his pocket during the robbery, was holding a weapon. Police did not disclose the amount of money taken from the store.

"Even though the actor acted as if he may have had a weapon, no weapon was ever displayed," police said in a statement.

Police said the clerk followed the man out of the store, where he was seen running a short distance before getting into the passenger side of a white, two-door Pontiac.

A robber held a Uni-Mart clerk at gunpoint at 2 a.m. May 19 while he took an undisclosed amount of money from the store's cash register. The suspect, who also covered his face, is described as being a white man in his early 20s who brandished a gun.

Police said the suspect was seen running through a nearby wooded area. No arrests in connection to the incident have been made.

The convenience store was also robbed in December, when an unidentified man in a black hooded sweatshirt holding a handgun fled with an undisclosed amount of money.

Police ask those with information regarding the robberies to contact them at 412.262.5000.
