New Member Appointed to Fill Vacancy on Moon Board of Supervisors

Nancy Patton Mills was selected to fill a vacated seat. Her son, a township Vacancy Board member, abstained from the vote.

The Moon Township Vacancy Board last night appointed a fifth township supervisor to serve out the remainder of former Supervisor Tim McLaughlin's term.

Nancy Patton Mills, of Coraopolis Heights Road, was selected in a 2-1 vote. The vacancy board is comprised of the members of the Board of Supervisors and Richard Mills, an additional, appointed member.

Mills abstained from the vote because Patton Mills is his mother. Supervisors Frank Sinatra and Jim Vitale voted in favor of Patton Mills; Supervisor Marv Eicher voted no on her appointment.

McLaughlin, who works for U.S. Airways, was to North Carolina earlier this year. He resigned shortly after his Snell Drive home sold this summer. Township officials said McLaughlin cited personal reasons for his resignation.
