Moon Area School District's  new assistant superintendent will begin her three-year term in the district on Feb. 1. 

Cynthia R. Zurchin was appointed by the Moon Area School Board during an executive session at its Jan. 10 meeting. Zurchin formerly served as an elementary principal at Pittsburgh Schaeffer Primary School. 

Zurchin has been a teacher administrator at middle schools and high schools in the Pittsburgh region for the past 23 years, according to a school news release. 

"On behalf of the district, we are honored to have Dr. Zurchin join our administration and are looking forward to her invaluable educational knowledge and contributions," said Moon Superintendent Donna Milanovich in a statement from the district.
