Sen. Bob Casey, D-Scranton, presented Scott Township resident Walter Howe, 86, with a medal of commendation for his service in World War II.

Howe, a veteran of the Navy, served on the Naval destroy U.S.S. Jenks, which was built at the Neville Island-based Dravo Corporation.

Casey and Rep. Tim Murphy, R-Upper St. Clair, met with the man Friday at Moon Township's Army Reserve base, following the ground-breaking ceremony for the new University Boulevard military commissary.
