Moon Woman Charged with Possessing Child Pornography, Abusing Minors

Pamela Smallis, a former daycare worker, is charged with sexual abuse and exploiting minors following a drug investigation.

A former daycare worker from Moon with a history of drug arrests is charged with owning child pornography.

Pamela Smallis, 49, is accused of possessing photos and videos depicting nude minors engaged in sexual activity, according to Pennsylvania Attorney General Linda Kelly's office.

Moon Police arrested the woman earlier this year and charged her with using her children to sell drugs from her Stocker Drive home.

Smallis, who was once employed as at a Beaver County daycare center, was initially being investigated for selling narcotics and prescription medications to children, according to a statement from Kelly.

During the investigation, the attorney's general office examined a phone memory card and discovered 33 pornographic photos and two videos depicting children engaged in sexual acts.

Smallis was taken into custody on Sunday. Moon Township Police assisted in the arrest.

She is held on $50,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 25 in Coraopolis District Court

She is charged with 34 counts of sexual abuse of children, 16 counts of unlawful contact with a minor, five counts of sexual exploitation of children, five counts of endangering the welfare of children, five counts of corruption of minors, and one count of criminal use of a communication facility.

Moon Police Chief Leo McCarthy earlier this year said Smallis' children sold prescription drugs and marijuana to police informants from her home, and she frequently brought them along to drug sales in the township.

Those with further information about Smallis are asked to contact the Attorney General Bureau of Criminal Investigations at 412-565-2192.

That's what I was going to say. That was very cruel and slanderous. I am sure her mother is devastated enough without people making horrible comments like that.

If she's convicted, I'm sure she won't be allowed to sell candy to children, at least not from prison. After that, she will be a registered offender so I don't think she will be able to work anywhere near kids.

The candy busines is owned by her parents, not her. Why are you worried about her selling candy to kids? Didn't you read?, she sells drugs (and God knows what else) She is way past chocolate... This business- that belongs to her family members - has not been mentioned in any way and you constantly harping on it is flat out WRONG. Your heart may be in the right place but your argument is poor and nonsensical.

She looks normal, which is frightening. The cops believe it's her voice directing the kids in the porn video. If so, I hope they lock her up for life. As a mother of two innocent, trusting preschoolers, and as a person who truly cares about the welfare of our children, this kind of thing makes my blood boil. She will do less time for the porn than for the drugs. Thats where our priorities lie in this sick society.

I find it funny that the majority of these comments are concerned about Faye slandering the accussed familys business. What about the children? That is what we all should be looking at. Let's look at the Penn State scandal and how Joe protected his team. Who is to say that the accused mother would or would not do the same. Faye made a good point. What about when she worked/owned the daycare? Wondering if more things will come out.

The court of law will protect the children not the court of public opinion. I feel someone has a score to settle with someone here.

Here's hoping serious prison time is involved if all of this is true. The grapevine in Moon has been buzzing about this before any of it made it on the news. Not exactly a good environment for her kids OR friends of her kids. I wonder just how many local kids were exposed to this freak show.
