Moon High School to Host 'PIMBA' Competition
The event takes place Sept. 29 at Moon's Tiger Stadium.
It might not be your typical marching band performance.
The Moon Area High School marching band will play a song by seminal rock icons The Who alongside one from electronic newcomer Skrillex at a Pennsylvania Marching Band Association contest later this month.
The event, which is open to the public, will be hosted for the first time at Moon's Tiger Stadium.
The competition kicks off at 5 p.m. Sept. 29 at the football field. Performances will follow and the event's awards ceremony will take place at 8:45 p.m.
Twelve bands from across the region will also take to the field for the annual event: Avonworth, Beaver Area, Cochranton, Rochester, Blackhawk, Central Valley, Gateway, Hampton, Kiski AreaMars Area, and West Allegheny.
Tickets for the general public are $8 at the gate and $4 for students and senior citizens.
Moon Area's marching band will give a performance title "U," featuring music from The Who, Skrillex, chart-topper Adele and singer-songwriter Alex Clare.
The band will also take part in a PIMBA show on Oct. 20 at Beaver Area High School and another on Oct. 27 at West Allegheny.
The PIMBA championships will be held Nov. 3 at Penn Trafford High School.
