Police: Man Wields Kitchen Utensil, Steals Dog in Polo Club Burglary
Moon Township Police blotter for Tuesday, July 31.
A Pittsburgh man is charged with burglary after police said he kicked down an apartment door in the Polo Club apartment complex and used a potato peeler to steal a dog.
Moon Police said 24-year-old Garrett Andrew Stauber broke into an apartment at 3 a.m. July 27 on Bridle Trail, grabbed a kitchen knife and potato peeler from the home's dishwasher and fled with the resident's small, white dog, according to a police report.
It was unclear if Stauber knew the resident of the apartment. Police said he engaged in a fist fight with a man outside of the apartment building following the burglary.
Witnesses reported seeing a barefoot man with the dog at the Polo Club apartment complex, according to police records.
Police said Stauber left footprints in the mud down Bridle Trail, which they followed to a nearby apartment, where Stauber was staying with a friend. He is charged with simple assault and burglary in connection to the incident.
