Longtime Board Chairman for Michael Baker Corp. Retires
Richard Shaw has announced his retirement after more than four decades at the Moon Township company.
Richard Shaw will leave his position as chairman of the board of directors for the Moon Township-based Michael Baker Corp.
The company announced that Shaw, who was named chairman in 1991, will retire on Jan. 31. He first joined Michael Baker in 1952 and was added to the board in 1966.
Robert N. Bontempo has been elected to succeed Shaw as board chairman. He has served on the board since 1997.
Shaw became chief executive officer of the engineering firm in 1984 and first retired from the position in 1992. He returned to the role three times between 1993 and 2006.
According to a statement from Shaw:
“Baker is a wonderful company with a strong future despite near-term market challenges. While I will miss the regular interaction with the many talented and dedicated Baker people and my colleagues on the board, I think that after more than six decades, it is the right time for me to step down.”
