'Jingle Bell Run' Benefits Coraopolis Boy

The event is held Saturday on the North Shore in Pittsburgh.

A Coraopolis 6-year-old will serve as the child honoree at this weekend's Jingle Bell Run/Walk on the North Shore.

The annual benefit serves as the Arthritis Foundation's signature event, raising money to fight arthritis, the leading cause of disability in the United States.

Logan Butter was just 4 when he was diagnosed with the condition. The Pittsburgh leg of the event will raise funds in his honor, according to a statement from the Arthritis Foundation.

More than 3,000 are expected to take part in the event, which kicks off with registration at 7:30 a.m. Dec. 8 on the lawn across from Heinz Field on North Shore Drive. The 5K follows at 10 a.m.

WTAE meteorologist Demetrius Ivory will serve as master of ceremonies for the event.
