Imperial Man Impersonates Brother During DUI Stop
Moon Township Police blotter for Thursday, Oct. 4.
Police said an Imperial man impersonated his brother when he was pulled over for suspicion of drunken driving.
A man identified as Michael Cogar was pulled over in April on Flaugherty Run Road and charged with drunken driving, Moon Police said. Cogar was found to be under the influence of a mix of prescription medications, police said in a report.
But on the date of his preliminary hearing, a different man showed up in Coraopolis District Court.
Police discovered the man arrested in April was actually 53-year-old Dallas Cecil Cogar, of Imperial—Michael Cogar's brother.
Police said Dallas Cogar provided false identification on the date of the arrest, telling them he was his brother Michael.
Michael Cogar said his brother Dallas has used his identification in the past to avoid criminal prosecution.
A warrant has been issued for Dallas Cogar’s arrest. He is charged with giving false identification to law enforcement, giving false reports to law enforcement, driving with a suspended license, identity theft and four counts of drunken driving.
Charges against Michael Cogar have been dropped.
