Get Out: Zoofari, Pittsburgh Noir and a Movie Night

Patch gives you a look ahead at local weekend events.

 

1. FAMILY FUN NIGHT

Where/When: sundown, Friday at Moon Park 

Why Go: Sit on the lawn under the stars and watch Disney’s Oceans (rated G) with the family.

Price: free

2. MUSIC SERIES

When/Where: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Wolcott Park, Sewickley
Why Go: Whether you’re finishing up back-to-school shopping or having Friday night date-night on the town, be sure to stop and enjoy the music of Resonance during the last concert of the summer series.
Price: free. In case of rain, the event will be held at Sweetwater Center for the Arts.

3. PITTSBURGH NOIR AND AUCTION
When/Where: 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Penguin Bookshop, Sewickley.
Why Go: Meet Kathleen George, the editor of Pittsburgh Noir, and hear her discuss the book. Part of the evening’s décor will be auctioned off to benefit the Homeless Children’s Education Fund.
Price: free.

4. RAJA TOWN HALL TOUR
When/Where: 6 p.m. Saturday, Sewickley Speakeasy, Sewickley
Why Go: Hear about D. Raja’s ideas and plans for the future and share your insight with him during his stop in Sewickley while promoting his candidacy for Allegheny County Chief Executive.
Price: free. You must RSVP by calling the campaign headquarters at 412-567-8448, or e-mail Rennick@joinraja.com.

5. KID’S ZOOFARI
When/Where: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Aug. 26, Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium, Pittsburgh
Why Go: Take the children to enjoy one last day of summer fun before school starts. Children get free train and carousel rides and experience a sea lion training demonstration or touch a stingray.
Price: free with the cost of general admission (Children $12, adults $14)
