Former Olympian Named to RMU Coaching Staff
The former RMU goaltender will now serve as a coach for her alma mater.
Robert Morris University’s women’s hockey team has tapped former Olympian Brianne McLaughlin as assistant coach.
McLaughlin, who is an alumna of RMU, competed on the United States 2010 winter Olympics women’s hockey team in Vancouver, earning a silver medal and becoming the first former Colonial to compete in the games.
She worked as a volunteer assistant coach for the Colonials during the 2011-2012 season, according to a university statement.
McLaughlin, 25, has also competed in two International Ice Hockey Federation world championships.
The former goaltender graduated from the Moon university in 2011 with a degree in nursing.
From head coach Paul Colontino:
"We are very excited to have Brianne back on staff," Colontino said. "Her experience and energy will continue to be a huge asset for our student-athletes both in the classroom and on the ice."
