Allegheny County Democrats Back Scappe to Challenge Mustio in House

The county's Democratic committee has thrown its support to Mark Scappe, a Moon resident and former school board member, for Pennsylvania's 44th district. A current school board member has also filed a petition to run for the seat now held by Republican M

The Allegheny County Democratic Committee has endorsed former president Mark Scappe to vie against state Rep. Mark Mustio in the Pennsylvania State House.

The committee announced the endorsement on its website. Scappe lost a bid in November for a six-year term on the Moon Area School Board. He currently serves on the Moon Transportation Authority.

Scappe is part-owner of Coraopolis-based RBS Consultants. He was first elected to Moon's school board in 1999.

Mustio, R-North Fayette, in January that he will vie for departing state seat in the November race. Pippy, R-Moon, said last month that he will not seek re-election.

Mustio, who was elected to the state legislature in a 2003 special election, is also seeking re-election for the state house.

He may face Republican competition for Pippy's seat as well as his own. Mt. Lebanon business owner D. Raja, who in November to become Allegheny County Executive, has been circulating petitions for the race, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

The newspaper also reports that Republican Ron Steele, who serves on the Moon Area School Board, has filed a petition to run for Mustio's seat in the 44th district. Steele was to a two-year term on the school board in November. He is managing director of the Pittsburgh-based Regency Consulting Services.

The deadline for candidates to file for November's election is Thursday.

Ron Steele is running for Mustio's seat? Didn't he just get elected to the school board? How's that for dedication! Two months and he is turning his back on the local residents who elected him to the school board. If he is elected to Mustio's seat, will he decide to run for another position two months later? Why should the voters ever believe a word that he says, since he was so quick to walk away from the school board?

Well the great thing about Scappe is that we will always know when he isn't telling the truth....... when his lips are moving.

Let's face it. His lips certainly were moving and look at the beautiful results shaping up on the campus.

Haha, you're a funny guy Chuckie! You should be appearing in comedy clubs with that act. Say what you will, but Scappe never turned his back on his committments. Ron Steele, on the other hand, is willing to forego the promises that he made to the voters who put him in office just a scant two months ago. And now he wants those same voters to ignore his unwillingness to serve the office that he ran for and vote him into a higher office! Could the lucrative state pension that he rails against be his reason for running for Mustio's seat? Even for a politician, what Steele is doing is pretty unbelievable.
