Update: Armed Robber Holds Up Uni-Mart, Flees With Cash
Store employee says he was not injured in the attack.
A witness told police that at 9 p.m. a man wearing a black hoodie held a handgun to the head of a store employee and then fled with cash.
Police said the witness attempted to tackle the suspect, but the man ran away toward Rhema Christian Academy.
No one has been charged in the incident.
Police have obtained store surveillance video footage that documents the incident.
Store manager Asghar Rashid said no customers were in the store when the man walked in and pointed a gun at his head, demanding cash from the store's register.
"It all took about 30 seconds," he said. "He came in and said 'Quickly, quickly give me the money.' "
Rashid said he was not injured in the assault and that the man left with only cash. Police did not disclose the amount taken from the store.
Officers from Coraopolis, Crescent and the Pennsylvania State Police were called in to assist. The Coraopolis police canine unit briefly followed the robber's trail through the area.
