I-79 Single Lane Traffic Daily in Robinson and Kennedy Townships

PennDOT District 11 is announcing traffic in both directions on I-79 in Robinson and Kennedy townships, Allegheny County, will be reduced to a single lane daily next week, Tuesday-Friday, June 7-10, weather permitting.

Crews will be installing guide rail and improving shoulders on I-79. Single lane traffic will occur from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. as needed each day between the Neville Island Bridge (Exit 64) and the Crafton/Route 60 interchange (Exit 60).

The work continues a $4.3 million project started in 2010 that includes milling and resurfacing, repairs, bridge rehabilitation, guide rail and other improvements on approximately 4.3 miles of I-79. The prime contractor is Lindy Paving of New Castle, PA. Overall work will conclude in late spring 2011.

PennDOT advises motorists to slow down, allow extra time, and use caution when traveling through the area. Log on to 511pa.com or call 511 from any phone to check traffic conditions and cameras on major roadways before traveling.
